Dr. Thomas Noh

Neurosurgeon

Dr. Thomas Noh is an internationally recognized neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive image-guided surgical techniques. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, his journey into medicine began at the University of Washington, where he was inspired to become a doctor while working in a neuroscience research lab. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Noh was inducted into the honors program, where he took advanced classes. He then studied medicine at the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine, landing a prestigious neurosurgical research fellowship at Duke University along the way.

Dr. Noh completed his neurosurgical residency at Henry Ford Hospital and took his skills to another level with a fellowship in tumor and image-guided surgery at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He also completed a complex and Milliman basic spine surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan, where he learned advanced techniques, such as robotics and endoscopic spine surgery. Over his career, he has contributed to more than 50 publications, posters, and presentations in reputable journals and textbooks.

Before returning to his home state of Hawaii to practice, Dr. Noh gained nine years of experience in complex cranial and spine surgery. He’s not just an experienced surgeon; he’s also been a patient, having undergone spine surgery himself. That personal experience informs his empathetic approach to care. Today, he holds an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hawaii and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at his alma mater, the John A. Burns School of Medicine. There, he has a laboratory that focuses on computer-assisted image-guided solutions for complex surgical problems.

Known for his evidence-based precision and caring attentiveness, Dr. Noh helps his patients navigate the often daunting journey of surgery, aiming to make the process as smooth and successful as possible.
