Dr. Thomas Noh, MD is Co-Founder and Chief Business & Strategy Officer of Excel Health, where he is building a next-generation surgical platform designed to shift high-acuity procedures out of hospitals and into scalable, technology-enabled outpatient settings. A neurosurgeon by training, he combines frontline clinical insight with operator-level execution to align surgeons, ambulatory infrastructure, and advanced technologies, driving better outcomes at lower cost.
He leads strategy across market expansion, payer contracting, and service line development, with a focus on minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery as a catalyst for disrupting traditional hospital-based care. His approach emphasizes vertical integration, rapid access, and standardized, high-throughput care delivery models that scale across fragmented markets.
Dr. Noh completed advanced fellowship training in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital / Weill Cornell Medicine, with additional fellowship specialization at the University of Michigan, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School. He maintains academic appointments at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and the University of Hawaii at Manoa Department of Information and Computer Sciences, where he leads a research lab focused on AI-driven, image-guided surgical technologies bridging clinical innovation with commercialization.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Dr. Noh’s entrepreneurial foundation was shaped through his family’s business, Nippon Bento, a bootstrapped, multi-decade operation known for product development, operational discipline, and the ability to deliver large-scale, high-volume service. These principles continue to inform his approach to building scalable, patient-centered healthcare systems.
