Meet Dr. Tristan Blase Fried

Dr. Tristan Blase Fried is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon specializing in the comprehensive care of degenerative spinal conditions. He is dedicated to helping patients find relief from neck and back pain through individualized treatment plans that incorporate both surgical and non-surgical options, always tailored to each patient’s goals, lifestyle, and unique needs.

Dr. Fried completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the prestigious Rothman Institute/Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and pursued advanced fellowship training in spine surgery at Rush University Medical Center/Midwest Orthopaedics in Chicago. During his training, he had the privilege of working under internationally recognized leaders in the field, including Drs. Alexander Vaccaro, Alan Hilibrand, and Christopher Kepler at Rothman, and Drs. Kern Singh and Frank Phillips at Rush. This mentorship provided him with a deep foundation in cutting-edge spinal care, including expertise in minimally invasive techniques such as endoscopic spine surgery, augmented reality–assisted navigation, and robotic-assisted procedures—state-of-the-art tools that enhance precision and accelerate recovery.

A committed clinician-scientist, Dr. Fried has authored more than 15 peer-reviewed research articles and contributed to numerous textbook chapters. He remains active in the academic community, and has served as a reviewer for journals including Global Spine Journal, Frontiers in Surgery, and Clinical Spine Surgery. His research focuses on spinal biomechanics, value-based care, and opioid-sparing recovery protocols.

Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Fried is proud to now call Honolulu home. He is honored to provide thoughtful, evidence-based spine care to the local community, combining advanced techniques with compassionate, patient-centered treatment.
